Chanel has long championed the camellia flower as a piece of iconography for the brand; but now, the flower is being used as part of their patented technology for their Hydra Beauty Micro Crème.
In an industry first, Chanel has partnered up with French start-up Capsum to create a cream based on camellia flower micro-droplets.
The cream is a hybrid oil-cream that is reported to provide a plumping effect and moisturise the skin, and a new manufacturing process has been put in place to prevent the individual droplets of camellia oil from splitting when mixed with the cream.
Senior Vice-President of Chanel beauty research and innovation, Christian Mahé, has said that “This microfluidics innovation platform is capable of broadening the scope of possibilities to develop tomorrow's cosmetic.”
