bdTrial: June favourites

The BD team share their top beauty picks for the month.

Oils have become a passion – some might say an obsession – developed over the many years I have worked in this industry, so of course I put up my hand to try the latest launch from Eminence Organic Skincare: Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil. As an organic facial oil formulated with box-ticking ingredients including powerful antioxidants rosehip oil and milk thistle plus collagen-boosting seabuckthorn oil, my expectations were running high. However nothing prepared me for the lovely, rich serum texture that absorbed easily into my skin or the delicious, clean all-natural scent. Used night and morning after cleansing, I barely needed to use my usual moisturiser even though the drying chilly winds have hit Sydney. In short, Eminence Organic Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil is a beautifully formulated, nourishing, hydrating and moisturising facial oil that contains powerful actives to leave skin visibly firmer and even-toned. I think I have found my perfect facial oil to keep me going through winter! - Janet

I wasn’t blessed with full brows à la Cara Delevingne, mine are more like sad caterpillars. While lots of people suggest filling them in, I sometimes find pencils and powders a little complicated to master. So when this brow cream arrived on my desk I was a touch skeptical, but it’s easier than mascara to master! I think it’s the formula that makes this brow product stand out so much, it isn’t tacky or thick but more smooth and ‘moussey’ in texture. A little bit goes a long way and then a quick brush with a spooly neatens them up. I love that I finally have full brows without 10 minutes of fussing about with different products. - Carly

Sisley Paris
For some reason I really despise curling my lashes. I hate the feel of the implement ‘pulling’ on them and I especially hate using a tool so close to my eyeballs. But whenever a make-up artist wields one at me and I lose the battle, I’m always pleasantly impressed by my own lashes. Curling makes them look longer! And thicker! And just generally more amazing! The answer to my tool-hating woes is the So Curl mascara by Sisley. The wand is more magical than Harry Potter's. One wiggling coat and they look as curled and amazing as if I’d used a lash curler on them. A truly brilliant beauty offering for all lasses. - Kelly

A brand that’s a bar raiser in cosmetics, Napoleon Perdis’ skincare range does the same and lately I’ve been loving the deliciously buttery Supreme Eye Cream. As a firm believer that ‘prevention is better than a cure’ (even at 25 y.o.), this little pot of gold helps prevent fine lines and sagging by hydrating tired and dehydrated skin, improving skin elasticity and moisture. Being winter, I’ve been using this religiously and not just around my eyes, but also on spots of dry skin on my hands and legs. I’m sure you can see why this is my June fave! - Sophia

Adding a little pizazz to the traditional dry shampoo, this April saw Batiste launch the Marrakech Dry Shampoo. While offering all the usual dry shampoo genius features – think clean fresh-looking locks in between washes – the Marrakech Dry Shampoo comes with the added benefit of including a Moroccan-style scent. Inspired by the aromatic flavours and imagery found in a Moroccan bazaar, this dry shampoo will have you feeling festive upon application. - Yelena

Contouring is just not my cup of tea. I am never going to follow in the footsteps of the Kardashians and become a glamour girl, rather I like skin to look like skin – imperfections and all. It’s for this reason that I am a die-hard fan of Laura Mercier, particularly the brand’s Tinted Moisturizer. The brand calls itself ‘complexion perfectors’ and for good reason – the SPF 20 cream keeps skin hydrated, radiant, and covered (but only just). - Sarah
